US Tax Reform Plans 2017 – A Global Restructuring Needed?

Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS)

The current US tax reform proposals include the House Republican Tax Reform Blueprint (HRTRB) released in June 2016 and President-elect Trump’s tax proposals that have undergone various refinements over the course of the presidential campaign.  While both of these proposals include changes to the taxation of individuals, estates and businesses, the focus of this webinar will be on the proposed changes to the taxation of businesses including those with international operations.  For businesses with international operations. An innovative aspect of the HRTRB is the proposed shift in the current U.S. international tax system to a destination-based tax system under which business income would be based on the location of consumption by introducing border adjustments exempting exports and taxing imports.

The webinar will address the following:

  • Common themes between the HRTRB and Trump’s business tax reform proposals
  • The major elements of these U.S. business tax reform proposals including those impacting businesses with international operations; and
  • Certain legislative process considerations impacting the enactment of such business tax reform proposals.

At the end of the web event, you will:

  • Understand the key elements of the current business tax reform proposals impacting U.S. and foreign-parented multinationals;
  • Be prepared to begin thinking about the dramatic impacts these business tax reform proposals are likely to have on corporate structures, including supply chain and capital structures; and
  • To begin to assess resource and data requirements that will be needed to quantify the financial and tax reporting impacts of such proposals.
